Tucked away on a secluded meadow on gated 5 OAK MEADOW LANE in the exclusive Miramonte area is the most beautiful acreage in Carmel Valley. It is an unparalleled setting with the ultimate in privacy, gorgeous mountain, vineyard and sunset views and the best weather in the area yet only minutes to Carmel. An architectural gem designed by Ventana Inn architect/award-winning designer Kipp Stewart lies on one of two lots of record totaling seven acres. The single-level contemporary exudes understated elegance with harmonious details, modern shapes and refined lines and consists of a wisteria-covered, large two bedroom main house and two self-contained guesthouses, which would not be permitted today. Oversize French doors that secure to the outdoors and custom skylights that mimic interior design elements fill the property with light.

The exterior is highlighted by a 55 foot swimming pool with wraparound old growth redwood bench feature. Carmel stone stairs lead to a private view deck with bench and hammock under a majestic oak, and there is a carmel stone and stucco-enclosed private hot tub off the master suite. The resort-like compound is surrounded by coastal live oaks, including one of the oldest on the peninsula, and complemented by an acre of the drought-resistant landscape by award-winning landscape architect Isabelle Greene. The tastefully refurbished estate with many new features represents a unique opportunity for the discerning buyer who appreciates the beauty of simplicity and is looking for a quiet retreat beyond the fog yet only minutes to town.

THE ARCHITECTS
Respected architect and artist Kipp Stewart is best known for his design of Ventana Inn in the 1970s, Big Sur’s first luxury resort, which was featured in Architectural Digest and considered innovative in the way it seamlessly blends into the natural environment along the beautiful Big Sur coastline. He designed only 10 homes, including this one for his Ventana Inn interior designer and husband, who was one of the original developers of the luxury, gated community. Kipp then won nine national and international first place awards for his designs of timeless contemporary furniture, which can be found all over the world including the White House. Having learned to paint in 1971 with encouragement from contemporary realist David Ligare, he now devotes himself to this art form and is still prolific after decades of artistic endeavors.

Isabelle Greene is one of California’s most innovative landscape architects whose gardens are featured in many publications and design textbooks. Having come by her talent naturally as the granddaughter of Henry Greene of Greene & Greene in Pasadena of the Craftsman era fame, she intended to become a botanical artist, studying with award-winning botanist Mildred Mathias, when fate took a turn. In 1966, she was given the opportunity to design a garden that won a design award. Since then and for over forty years, Isabelle has designed nearly 600 public and private gardens proving to clients that color and texture can be brought together in an artistic, water-conserving manner, most famously in the Lovelace Garden in Montecito, one of the most photographed, contemporary gardens in the world.

Monterey County is located on the Pacific coast of California, with its northwestern section forming the southern half of Monterey Bay. The northern half of the bay is in Santa Cruz County. As of 2010, the population was 415,057. The county seat and largest city is Salinas.

The Monterey County coastline, including Big Sur, State Route 1, and the 17 Mile Drive on the Monterey Peninsula, has made the county world famous. The city of Monterey was the capital of California under Spanish and Mexican rule. The economy is primarily based upon tourism in the coastal regions and agriculture in the Salinas River valley. Most of the county's people live near the northern coast and Salinas valley, while the southern coast and inland mountain regions are almost devoid of human habitation.
